Summary information Theater Mummpitz

Founded in 1980, Theater Mummpitz is an independent theatre group with its own theatre house at the Kachelbau in Nuremberg.
The theatre has toured Germany and many foreign countries being awarded many prizes and being invited to numerous festivals in and outside
of Germany.

Our theatre works with guest artists from all theatre disciplines. Since starting around 50 productions in varying cast and on various topics were made for children, teenagers and adults and its popularity increased steadily.

Mummpitz currently offers nine plays in the permanent repertoire, some of them are available for touring.

Furthermore the theatre has a large offer of pedagogic courses especially designed for groups and schools.

Festivals and other special events complement the wide range of activities. An example is the festival panoptikum in cooperation with the Junges Theater Augsburg which ran in February 2010 for the 6'th time. Another regular program is Musikuss, a special musical offer for children.
Over the last seven years it has offered a varied and exciting program inviting children of all age groups to a widespread musical journey.
In 2009 Theater Mummpitz create the "Nürnberger KulturRucksack" (Nuremberg CulturalRucksack). This special programm allows children from unprivileged Nuremberger urban districts to visit four cultural excursions of different cultural category groups and four workshops per school year.

Information about the work of Theater Mummpitz

Mummpitz has its own idea of theatre, but is also open-minded about discussion.
It doesn't just make theatre, it also wants to get people involved in theatre.

The plays of Theater Mummpitz are orientated at the world of children and reflect children's questions, conflicts and problems.
However, childhood topics do not mean infantile plays, there are many topcis where we want to take children seriously.
They have the right to have a true dialog and this is what we try to be. Children need plays and stories in order to get to know life.
A theatre is the perfect place for this as it offers many opportunities to live and learn.
